BUSINESS PROGRAM OF POWEREXPO ALMATY 2025 AND KAZATOMEXPO 2025: THE KEY TO THE FUTURE OF THE REGION'S ENERGY

FROM OCTOBER 21 TO 23, 2025, IN ALMATY, AT THE EXHIBITION PAVILIONS OF KCDS 'ATAKENT', THE 23RD KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION 'ENERGY, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND ENERGY MACHINERY' – POWEREXPO ALMATY 2025 AND THE 8TH KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION 'NUCLEAR ENERGY AND INDUSTRY' – KAZATOMEXPO 2025 WILL TAKE PLACE, WHICH HAVE BEEN THE MAIN BUSINESS AND COMMUNICATION CENTER FOR ENERGY INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS IN CENTRAL ASIA FOR MANY YEARS.

The exhibitions traditionally bring together equipment manufacturers, technology suppliers, government representatives, and the expert community, forming a unique platform for presenting innovative solutions and discussing strategic tasks for sector development. Exhibitors in 2025 include over 175 companies from 14 countries worldwide, including Austria, Algeria, Belarus, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and the Czech Republic.

The rich business program of the exhibitions will become a key driver of professional dialogue and the development of practical solutions that can directly influence the future of Kazakhstan's electricity sector and the entire region. For three days, representatives of government structures, businesses, and the scientific community will gather on one platform to discuss current industry challenges, present innovative technologies, and determine priorities for sustainable development. The variety of thematic sessions and expert discussions will allow not only for experience exchange but also for forming strategic guidelines that open new horizons for realizing the country's growing energy potential. Thus, the Energy Forum will be held on October 21–22.

On October 21, the program will open with the plenary session 'Modernization of Kazakhstan's Electricity Sector: Eliminating Deficits, Reducing Wear, and Increasing Investment Attractiveness', where issues of eliminating systemic wear and increasing industry reliability, overcoming capacity deficits, and forming balanced generation will be discussed. Special attention will be paid to investments and tariff policy as a transition to a sustainable model, institutional constraints on the balancing market, as well as strategic planning, staffing, and digital transformation of energy. Among the speakers will be representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazenergy, the World Bank, KEGOC, the Regional Electric Grid Company, and the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who will present their views on key sector development tasks.

Experts will discuss the current tariff model and its role in either developing or hindering the industry, the lack of market signals and economic incentives for modernization, the deficit of private investments and ways out of this situation, as well as the growing demand for technological connection and energy supply, which must be considered in the interests of the economy, within the framework of the strategic panel session 'Tariff Formation in Kazakhstan's Energy: Reform Long Overdue'. Special attention will be given to forming a new tariff model capable of ensuring a balance of interests between consumers, businesses, and the state.

Next will be the strategic panel session 'Global Energy Network of the Future: From Science Fiction to Regional Integration' — attention will be paid to the prospects of creating a transnational energy network, Kazakhstan's role as an energy bridge, and the implementation of pilot projects in this direction.

The second day, October 22, will begin with the strategic panel session 'The Future of Nuclear Energy in Kazakhstan: Balancing Technology, Transparency, and Responsibility', where scenarios for the country's long-term energy security will be considered, including the justification for the construction of three nuclear power plants and their impact on the stability of the energy system. Participants will discuss the state vision and strategy for the development of nuclear energy in Kazakhstan, as well as prospects for international cooperation and various models for implementing nuclear power plant projects. Special attention will be given to formats of interaction with leading global companies such as Rosatom and CNNC, the role of international agreements and technical support, as well as the experience of neighboring countries in the region — Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and others, which have already begun developing nuclear energy. In the second part of the session, the focus will be on modern technological solutions and strict safety requirements for nuclear facilities. Experts will discuss the implementation of the latest reactor technologies, as well as the development of physical and cybersecurity systems, without which the sustainable functioning of the industry is impossible. A separate focus will be on the digitalization and automation of nuclear plants as a crucial condition for increasing their efficiency and reliability, and on issues of personnel training and technology transfer. In conclusion, the integration of nuclear energy into the 'green' energy systems of the future will be emphasized — as an integral element of low-carbon development and ensuring the country's energy security.

After lunch, the session 'Energy Systems of the Future: How to Ensure Sustainability' will be held, dedicated to the integration of renewable energy sources, the role of nuclear power plants in the energy balance, and digital platforms for energy system management. The day will conclude with the Expert Talks format 'Energy Dialogue – Point of Synthesis', where leading moderators and experts of the Energy Forum 2025 will summarize, highlight key challenges, and record proposals for regulators and the industry community.

On October 23, the third day, the 'KazEnergoOTP-2025' Forum will take place, with topics dedicated to localization and support for domestic manufacturers (OTP). The plenary session 'Localization and Demand: How to Ensure a Sustainable Market for OTP?' will consider real and projected demand volumes from the energy sector, regulatory barriers, and government support tools. During the panel session 'Quality Growth, Export, and Production Alliances: The New Role of OTP', experts will discuss ways to increase the technological maturity of enterprises, export potential, and the creation of joint productions with international companies. At the strategic panel session 'National Industrial Base of Energy: What Needs to Change Now?' the final discussion will be held, aimed at forming a 'roadmap' for the development of the national industrial base and preparing recommendations for the Government and relevant ministries. Final conclusions will be formulated for the entire day of 'KazEnergoOTP-2025' and specific steps will be determined for the 'relaunch' of the OTP support system in energy, with the participation of all stakeholders: the state, business, development institutions, and regulatory bodies.

Thus, the three-day business program of Powerexpo Almaty 2025 and KazAtomExpo 2025 will cover the entire spectrum of key issues in the development of Kazakhstan's energy and the region: from the modernization of electricity and tariff policy to the future of the nuclear industry, energy system sustainability, and support for domestic manufacturers. The business program is organized with the active support and participation of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'Atameken', the Kazakhstan Association of Energy Supply Organizations, and the Institute for the Development of Electricity and Energy Conservation.

The organizer of the events is the Kazakhstan exhibition company Iteca with the support of the international partner ICA Events.
