POWEREXPO ALMATY 2024 BROUGHT TOGETHER ENERGY LEADERS: 66% INCREASE IN EXPOSITION AND NEW PROSPECTS FOR COOPERATION
From October 30 to November 1, 2024, the 22nd Kazakhstan International Energy, Electrical Equipment and Machine Building Exhibition - Powerexpo Almaty 2024 was successfully held in Almaty.
This large-scale industry event demonstrated a significant increase in interest from participants, companies and visitors in the latest achievements in the energy sector. Over the course of three days, the exhibition was visited by 3,506 industry professionals. Participants noted not only the scale and high quality of the solutions presented, but also the unique opportunities for expanding business contacts.
Yevgeny Kaisa, Head of the Material and Technical Department, Kaz Energo Power, shared his opinion: “We are visiting the exhibition for the third time, and each time we find something new here. This year we managed to meet a number of new suppliers that we had not known about before, and we got a lot of useful information from their presentations”.
The Powerexpo Almaty 2024 exposition covered two pavilions and an outdoor area, presenting a wide range of achievements from 186 participants from 12 countries, including Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic. The increase in the exposition area by 66% and the growth in the number of participants by 37% compared to last year became significant indicators of the growing interest in the energy market of Kazakhstan.
The exhibitors included 68 Kazakhstan companies and 118 foreign manufacturers and suppliers, with the most active participation coming from companies from Kazakhstan, China and Russia. Powerexpo Almaty 2024 also featured a unique international component: the exhibition featured collective stands of regions and republics of the Russian Federation, and the Uzeltexsanoat Association organized an extensive collective stand of manufacturers from Uzbekistan for the first time, drawing attention to the achievements of the Uzbek electric power industry. Many exhibitors noted the high efficiency of their participation in the exhibition. “We are pleased with our participation and can confidently say that we have signed a contract worth $1.5 million for the supply of our products, namely the copper pipes produced by our plant. There was a lot of interest in our stand and our products.” - Bekzod Mirzaraimov, Sales Manager, Uzeltexsanoat Association JSC, said.
The business program, which included 15 sessions with the participation of 36 speakers, attracted the attention of both industry professionals and representatives of the state machinery and industry associations. The plenary session “The future of hydrogen energy in Kazakhstan: trends and prospects” opened the program of the first day, where the possibilities of using hydrogen as an alternative energy source and the prospects for the implementation of hydrogen technologies in Kazakhstan were discussed. The speakers were Zhakyp Khairushev, Managing Director of Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saken Kalkamanov, Advisor to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Managing Director of Zhasyl Damu JSC, Andrey Kibarin, Professor of the Department of Thermal Power Engineering of Gumarbek Daukeyev Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications Non-Public Joint Stock Company, Assel Kazbekova, Director of KPMG Law Kazakhstan, Marat Kalmenov, Director of the Department of Processing and Analysis of the Institute for the Development of Electric Power Industry and Energy Saving. The plenary session ended with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a tour of the exhibition, where the honored guests were able to get acquainted with the presented products and technologies and assess the scale of innovative solutions. As part of a lively dialogue, representatives of domestic and international companies shared practical experience and advanced technologies aimed at developing the energy sector and modernizing the infrastructure of Kazakhstan. The content of the first day also included a case session “Innovations in cybersecurity and the use of AI in energy”, which examined the latest technologies for protecting energy networks and increasing their resilience through the use of artificial intelligence. DKC-booked, TGS-Solar, Kazakhstan Reinforcement and Insulator Plant, Kursk Electrical Equipment Plant, Chint kz held educational seminars on relevant topics.
On the second day of the exhibition, a panel discussion “Renewable energy sources as part of the energy system and a source of electric supply for small and medium businesses” and a case session “Intra-country value: domestic manufacturers in the energy sector” were held. The following companies presented their unique and advanced developments for the energy industry at their seminars: Chint kz, Aksa Power Generation, Izolyator Group, TE Connectivity, Center for Energy and Environmental Research (CEER).
Powerexpo Almaty 2024 has become an important professional site that has brought together leading specialists, suppliers and developers of innovative solutions in the energy industry in one place. Visitors also noted the significance of exhibitions for successful business. “Live communication is always better for business, because when you go to a potential customer just for negotiations, you cannot bring such a large number of samples of your products. And the exhibition really helps to get to know the goods, the product quite closely and communicate live with manufacturers.” - Natalya Shkvarok, Head of Marketing Department, Elektrosetstroyproekt JSC, shared her impressions.
