POWEREXPO ALMATY 2024: 66% GROWTH OF THE EXHIBITION, BRINGING TOGETHER OF THE LEADING EXPERTS TO DISCUSS THE PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DOMESTIC ENERGY SECTOR AND TWO INNOVATION PAVILIONS

ON OCTOBER 30, THE 22ND KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION “ENERGY, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND POWER ENGINEERING” POWEREXPO ALMATY 2024 OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED AT THE ATAKENT EXHIBITION CENTER IN ALMATY.

This significant event in the energy industry brought together leading manufacturers, suppliers and experts from various countries, providing a unique opportunity to exchange experience and discuss relevant trends.

This year's exhibition brought together 186 exhibitors from 12 countries, including Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Czech Republic.  In addition to the tremendous growth of the exposition, it is worth to note the impressive international interest of the exhibitors. 68 companies from Kazakhstan and 118 international exhibitors are represented at the exhibition. Thus, the top 3 participating countries are Kazakhstan, China and Russia. Traditionally, the exposition includes collective stands of regions and republics, the Russian Federation, and “Uzeltekhsanoat” Association - Electrical Industry of Uzbekistan has for the first time arranged participation with a large collective stand of manufacturers from Uzbekistan.

Powerexpo Almaty 2024 demonstrates the latest developments and solutions in the field of energy, as well as innovative technologies for improving energy efficiency. This demonstrates growing interest in the development of the region's energy sector and a desire to modernize the infrastructure to meet modern environmental standards.

Along with the development of the industry, the expo platforms continue their growth. The number of participants has increased by 37% compared to 2023, among which 114 companies are participating for the first time. The exhibition is located in two pavilions and on the street exposition, and its growth amounted to impressive 66%.

The business program of the first day started with discussion of the key issues of the future of hydrogen energy in Kazakhstan. Within the framework of the Plenary Session “Future of Hydrogen Energy in Kazakhstan: Trends and Prospects”, experts discussed the opportunities of using hydrogen as an energy source and potential ways of developing this area in the country. Speakers included Zhakyp Khairushev, Managing Director of Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Saken Kalkamanov, Advisor to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Managing Director of “Zhassyl Damu” JSC, Andrey Kibarin, Professor of the Department of Thermal Energy of Gumarbek Daukeyev Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications, Assel Kazbekova, Director of KPMG Law Kazakhstan, Marat Kalmenov, Director of the Processing and Analysis Department of the Institute for Development of Electric Power Industry and Energy Saving.

In his welcoming speech, Zh. Khairushev noted: “For more than two decades, this exhibition has served as a key platform for sharing experiences, discussing promising solutions and strengthening partnerships in the energy sector. And today's discussion on hydrogen energy in Kazakhstan showed that our energy sector is actively developing by introducing innovations and successfully integrating into international markets”. The plenary session concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with participation of speakers, which marked the official opening of the exhibition, followed by a tour about the exhibit. The guests of honor were able to talk to major domestic and international exhibitors in the format of a lively dialogue.

The program continued with a case session “Innovations in Cybersecurity and AI Application in the Energy Sector”, where the advanced technologies for protecting energy networks and increasing their resilience through the use of artificial intelligence were discussed. Also, seminars of the following companies were held: DKC-booked, TGS-Solar, Kazakhstan cable and insulator plant, Kursk electrical devices plant, Chint kz.

The second day of the exhibition, October 31, promises no less interesting events, including the Panel Discussion “Renewable Energy Sources as Part of the Energy System and a Source of Electricity Supply for Small and Medium Business” and the case session “In-Country Value: Domestic Commodity Producers in the Energy Sector”. In the seminar zones, Chint kz, Aksa Power Generation, GC Izolator, TE Connectivity, Center for Energy and Environmental Research (CEER) will hold seminars, where they will present their state-of-the-art solutions for the energy industry.

The event was officially supported by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of Almaty city, Samruk-Energo JSC, Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company KEGOC JSC, Kazakhstan Electricity Association - KEA, Kazakhstan Association of Energy Auditors.
