Wind and solar power plants to be launched in spring in Mangistau region

Mangistau region is building solar and wind power stations in Munayly and Tupkaragan districts with a total capacity of 12 megawatts. The sources of alternative energy to be put into operation this spring. This was announced at the energy and housing and communal services department of Mangistau region.

The project for construction of a five-megawatt wind farm is being implemented in the village Akshukur in the Tupkaragan district. Also work is under way to implement the project "Construction of a solar power plant" in Batyr village, Munayly district. In Mangistau region these are the first objects of alternative energy. In late 2018, it is planned to launch a solar power plant in the village Shetpe with a capacity of 12 megawatts.

The cost of the project for construction of a solar power plant is one billion two hundred million tenge. To date, construction and installation work is underway.

The energy and housing and communal services department promises that both power plants in Munayly and Tupkaragan districts will be put into operation this spring and cover the electricity deficit in the nearest villages and industrial enterprises. In addition, they will create jobs for about fifty residents of the region.
